Alfredo Linguini is a timid, well-meaning young man who begins working as a garbage boy at Gusteau's restaurant in Paris. His life changes when he discovers Remy, a talented rat who secretly guides his cooking and helps him succeed in the kitchen. As their unusual partnership develops, Linguini grows from an awkward and inexperienced worker into a more confident chef. He is also the son of legendary chef Auguste Gusteau and eventually builds a new restaurant with Remy and Colette.
