📖 Biography
Caterpillar is one of Wonderland's most mysterious residents in Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Sitting on a mushroom and smoking a hookah, he questions Alice about her identity and challenges her to think carefully about who she wants to become. His advice about the mushroom gives Alice control over her changing size, making him an important guide during her strange journey. In Disney's version and other adaptations, Caterpillar has become especially recognizable for his calm manner, cryptic wisdom, and eventual transformation into a butterfly.
