Heimlich

📖 Biography

Heimlich is a cheerful, food-obsessed Bavarian caterpillar who performs as a clown with P.T. Flea's circus troupe. Despite his love of eating and his nervous personality, he joins Flik and the other circus bugs when they are mistaken for a group of warrior insects. Heimlich dreams of becoming a beautiful butterfly, and his optimism and willingness to help make him one of the troupe's most lovable members. At the end of the story, he emerges from his cocoon with tiny wings, finally achieving his transformation even though he cannot properly fly.

• 01 Heimlich speaks with a German accent and is named after the Heimlich maneuver.
• 02 Heimlich is voiced by Pixar story artist Joe Ranft, who also voiced Lenny in Toy Story.
• 03 Although Heimlich calls himself a butterfly, his design is more consistent with a moth, possibly a promethea silkmoth.
• 04 Heimlich dreams throughout the film of becoming a beautiful butterfly and finally emerges from his cocoon during the ending.
• 05 Heimlich appears in Toy Story 2, including a brief appearance crawling along a branch before Buzz Lightyear cuts it down.
