Darwin Watterson is an orange goldfish who began life as Gumball's pet before growing legs and becoming a full member of the Watterson family. He is Gumball's adopted brother and closest friend, frequently joining him in the bizarre adventures that unfold around Elmore. Darwin is cheerful, empathetic, honest, and usually more cautious than Gumball, often serving as the voice of reason when his brother's schemes go too far. Despite his gentle nature, Darwin can be surprisingly brave, athletic, and determined when the people he loves are in trouble.
