Archimedes is Merlin's highly educated owl companion and one of the most memorable supporting characters in Disney's The Sword in the Stone. Although he is often grouchy and sarcastic, Archimedes possesses considerable practical knowledge and frequently keeps Merlin's eccentricity in check. He helps Merlin teach the young Arthur and gradually becomes a loyal friend to the future king. Archimedes can also speak like a human, making him an unusually articulate and opinionated owl.
